OIP is headed by the Citys Chief Privacy Officer, who leads and implements the Citys privacy strategy and policy, advises agencies on federal, state, and local privacy law, and counsels on citywide data-sharing practices.Within the Office of Information Privacy, responsibilities will include: - Track and analyze federal, state, and local privacy legislation, emerging news, and industry best practices; draft comprehensive policy briefs and impact assessments to assist the Executive Director in advising on strategic priorities and legislative matters;- Research and draft public testimony, regulatory comments, and formal legal submissions to support the Executive Directors representation of the Chief Privacy Officer (CPO);- Prepare briefing materials, talking points, and position papers for the Executive Director and CPO ahead of engagements with national, international, and intergovernmental privacy coalitions;- Assist in drafting, negotiating, and reviewing complex privacy-related contract terms, memoranda of understanding, and data-sharing agreements;- Act as a lead supporting attorney on priority OIP projects, conducting legal reviews and managing project deliverables to help advance the Offices strategic affairs portfolio;- Support the design, drafting, and delivery of citywide privacy training initiatives and professional development materials;- Execute other projects and initiatives as required.HOURS/SHIFTDay - Due to the necessary management duties of this position in a 24/7 operation, candidate may be required to be on call and/or work various shifts such as weekends and/or nights/evenings.WORK LOCATIONBrooklyn, NYTO APPLYPlease go to www.cityjobs.nyc.gov and search for Job ID #784196*Interested applicants with other civil service titles who meet the preferred requirements should also submit a resume for considerationSUBMISSION OF A RESUME IS NOT A GUARANTEE THAT YOU WILL RECEIVE AN INTERVIEWAPPOINTMENTS ARE SUBJECT TO OVERSIGHT APPROVALOTI participates in E-Verify
Requirements
Admission to the New York State Bar; and four years of recent full-time responsible, relevant, satisfactory legal experience subsequent to admission to any bar, eighteen months of which must have been in the supervision of other attorneys, in an administrative, managerial or executive capacity, or performing highly complex and significant legal work. Incumbents must remain Members of the New York State Bar in good standing for the duration of this employment.
